The Rev. Kevin DePrinzio, OSA, PhD, Vice President for Mission and Ministry, Elected to General Council of the Order of St. Augustine

The Rev. Kevin DePrinzio, OSA, PhD, ÃÛÌÒTV’s vice president for Mission and Ministry, has been elected to the General Council of the Order of St. Augustine, for which he will immediately begin a six-year term in Rome. Father DePrinzio will serve as assistant general for English-speaking provinces, a role appointed to him by the newly-named Prior General of the Order, the Rev. Joseph L. Farrell, OSA, STL, STD, ’85 VSB, ’19 MS.

Villanova Alumnus, Augustinian Friar Elected as Prior General of the Order of St. Augustine

The Rev. Joseph L. Farrell, OSA, STL, STD, ’85 VSB, ’19 MS has been elected Prior General of the Order of St. Augustine at the Order’s 188th General Chapter on Sept. 9. Father Farrell, who will serve a six-year term, is the second Prior General elected from the Augustinian Province of St. Thomas of Villanova and 98th Prior General of the Order since the position was first assigned in 1256, shortly after its founding.

Pope Leo XIV, an Augustinian friar and Villanova alumnus, was honored with the Saint Augustine Medal by the Augustinian Province of St. Thomas of Villanova. The medal is the Province’s highest recognition, awarded to those who exemplify the spirit and teachings of St. Augustine through service, generosity and a deep commitment to Augustinian values.

ÃÛÌÒTV Cabrini Campus Opening in 2026

ÃÛÌÒTV’s new 112-acre Cabrini Campus will open in August 2026, providing the opportunity for the University to enhance its programs and commitment to advancing Catholic higher education. This addition will support all aspects of campus life, providing a space that nurtures a true living and learning experience in Villanova’s Augustinian Catholic tradition.

VILLANOVA'S CAMPUS

ÃÛÌÒTV is located on a 260-acre campus, 12 miles/19 kilometers west of Philadelphia. Three campus rail stops provide quick access to Philadelphia. Villanova also is conveniently close to New York and Washington, D.C.
